I was born in Reno, Nevada in 1984 and raised on the Reno Sparks Indian Colony. I am an enrolled member of the federally recognized Klamath Tribes. My work is narrative; a form of story telling. I often use decaying family photos for reference. These photos are so precious to me. The feeling of forgetting my family distresses me so I look to the photos for remembrance. In many cases the photos have faded, losing all detail and distinguishing facial features. The process of recreating these images brings me closer to the people or location depicted. Through my painting process I am able to have a relationship with deceased loved ones such as my father, Walt. The figures are ambiguous, with little or no facial features. Through the mannequin like figures, I want to convey a feeling of loss of identity.
